Thanks Walt, it was a good idea to have the radar loop right on the blog page. I've been watching this, and it seems that they're already getting the summer pattern of clear mornings with afternoon thunderstorms. Night owls (like me) take note: if we don't want to get rained on, we're going to have to get up and out of camp early in the mornings.

I'm a night owl, and being awake before 8am or so is painful.

I've peeked at this everyday, and I realize that what I'm looking at is only a sliver of time, but I've never seen it not green, from day to day. Does anyone know how long it rains?

At any rate, I'm packing my rain gear. The jacket came today and I'm working on getting the pants.

It seems, if you're going out on a day hike or ride in morning/afternoon, there's a pretty good chance you'll get wet.

The weather in Michigan right now has me in training, 'cause for the last week there's been a threat of storms every day and I've gone out for a run anyway. One day I even got wet.

It's a little deceiving because the radar loop shows reflective moisture in the atmosphere. It's even sensitive enough that it picks up dense clouds. But in reality, anything less than +20 - +24 dBZ probably isn't hitting the ground. The personal weather station I've been monitoring in Woodland Park, which is about 10 miles NW of Lone Duck, only recorded 1.18" of rain for the month of June and their online cameras @ http://www.woodlandparkcam.com always look mostly clear. I don't think rain will be a big factor though I understand the weather pattern for that area is clear morning and clouding up some mid afternoon. I too will back a couple of rain coats but I don't believe they're really necessary.
